The project transforms this point into an urban square with various paths, a place of crossing and meeting but also connecting. A continuous link, a calm juction between the «forecourt» and the platforms of the M15 line through an «inverted» plazza that gently leads commuters to their metro train. This is an unprecedented experience provided by natural light that accompanies commuters throughout their travel from ground level to that of the metro tunnel.
The square is a 3-dimensional spatial device, a «vertical square», a quality that allows commuters to go seamlessly from the street to the metro, without any rupture with the public space, its protected areas, its streets, its green spaces, its places of rest and relaxation. This station is both the figure and the concrete realization of an «inverted place», a superposition of small piazzas and places that extend the urban space, while taking advantage of the natural light that accompanies the commuter on their daily journey.
We have therefore established a continuity between the «upper» square of the station and the platforms, thanks to intermediate streets and piazzas, stairs, resting or catchment areas, until reaching the platforms which are like inner streets lost in the arterial tunnels of line 15. This continuity transforms a daily act into a kind of vertical stroll.
